Rachel & Tim Fall River Country Club, Fall River Mass.

It was yet another perfect Saturday for a wedding in Fairhaven and Fall River Massachusetts. Rachel and Tim had a beautiful Catholic ceremony at the St. Joeseph’s Church in Fairhaven and then a fabulous reception at the Fall River Country Club in Fall River.

Here is a super clever idea!  Rachel and Tim just had the bottom tier of their wedding cake as real cake.  That is what the cut and fed to each other.  Then they had the baker make them 10 other incredible cakes.  I can’t even tell you all of different kinds!  Super good idea.

Sept 27, 2008

Every year the last weekend on Sept. is a very popular weekend to get married in New England. It’s harvest time, it’s not too hot, not too cold, usually dry - perfect for a wedding. This year is no exception. I have gotten so many inquiries for Sept. 27 - I can’t even tell you. Yesterday I received one of the most flattering inquiries of my career. I had to share:

Hi Thea-
happened upon your site last weekend and have been been sneaking peeks during my workday ever since. I am completely delighted by your work! I feel entirely inspired by your photos, and I so appreciate your commitment to living/working green. We’re planning a wedding in raymond, maine this september - it’ll be a fun & funky gathering at a summer camp- and we’d love love love if you’re available (and interested!) Any chance 9.27.08 might still be open for you? If so, I so look forward to talking with you!!! If not, know that your work has truly moved me- I’ve been a little intimidated by the whole wedding planning process- but the energy and genuine emotion in your work has sparked a fire-thank you!
Very best to you,
Ali

Wow!! I have been turning away brides in droves for this date, but this one was especially hard to be unavailable for. The thing is, is that I won’t be shooting a wedding on Sept. 27 and that is hard for me. Weddings have been my life for a while now but this year the tides are turning.

This harvest weekend, I will be (hopefully) recovering for my first ever experience with childbirth and getting to know my first born. That’s right, I am pregnant and due in the end of Sept. What a different way to spend the Fall then I have grown accustomed to. Sept. has always been my busiest month and this year will be no exception, except in a whole new way.

Now if you are getting married in Sept. don’t hesitate to email me - I have some wonderful photographers to refer to you, so don’t stop the inquiries - they still make me smile.

Happy Spring!

Happy Earth Day!

One year ago today I made the commitment to make Authentic Eye a Carbon-Neutral business by today. It was actually easier then I expected and we have been carbon-neutral since September of 2007.

Our Commitment To The Environment is:

1. We print on recycled paper with soy or corn inks whenever possible.

2. We have made efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and are off-setting the remaining 32 tons by investing in renewable energy through Native Energy.

3. We offer discounts off our packages for clients who use other green vendors.

This commitment is constantly growing and I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions for improvements.

Authentic Eye is co-founding a non-profit with EOS Photography in California which will be a resource to help photographers green their business. I am also teaming up with The NH Wedding Resource Guide to add a “How to Green Your Wedding” section to next year’s book. Please contact me if you are interested in getting involved with either of these projects!

I hope all of you get out from in front of your computer screen and get outside on this beautiful day!

Happy Earth Day!

Cait & Jon The Colonial in Gardner, MA

Cait and Jon got an absolutely perfect Spring day in Gardner to get hitched. Everything happened right there at the Colonial from Ceremony to Reception all in one room and you never would have guessed it. The Colonial is a very classic New England hotel, giant stair cases, high ceilings and long vertical windows. It was an all around pleasure!

Career Day at Kearsarge Regional Middle School

This morning I had the honor of hanging out with some rowdy 8th graders at the Kearsarge Regional Middle School. I was invited to speak on career day about being a photographer. I know when I was in school that talking was boring I always preferred doing. So I brought some lights, backdrop and cameras and the students had a live fashion shoot. It was a great time! But, how exhausting. I can’t imagine teachers who do that all day every day!!

Here are some of my favorites as I was demonstrating pulling focus and dramatic lighting.
