Kyra’s First Christmas

So I am quickly becoming a child-obsessed-camera crazed-parent.  It’s just so much fun to dress her up in these silly outfits she’ll only wear once and take a photo.  We had a wonderful Christmas and we are now preparing for our road trip to the Southwest.  The dog, dad, baby and I are all packing into my little Toyota hybrid and driving cross-country.  Crazy?  Probably.  I plan on blogging along the way in the spirit of my new obsession, Kyra will be like the traveling gnome in Amelie.

Hope you all follow our travels (and wish us luck!)

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays!  I’m off to Massachusetts today to spend Christmas with Bryan’s family.  It’s usually a good time and it being Kyra’s first Christmas should make it extra fun.  Below is a picture of Kyra “driving” the tractor at Grandma’s house.

During my pregnancy, Jack (one of Kyra 3 Grandpa’s) nicknamed my belly Buster.  He could stop talking about Buster driving the tractor and Buster moving rocks in the garden…then we had a little girl….Buster is Busty.  Jack is a little disapointed, he says he “misses Buster” and “next time it’ll be Buster.”  I figure Kyra can still drive the tractor and move rocks in the garden we just got to start her early.

I hope everyone has a warm and wonderful holiday!

Cheers,

Thea

My Baby

I have a stack of birth announcements I’m yet to send out, so I thought I’d post them here in case they turn into Holiday cards.

And here she is showing off her toothless grin:

And sleeping in her Red Sox hat:

We have a winner!!

Congratulations to Erica Webb for winning our photo contest!  Erica will receive a free portrait session!  I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph her family again!!

Below are the your favorite photos.  I’ve entered them into an international contest and I must admit, the competition is very steep.  I will keep you posted in anything developes.

Thank you all for partcipating!!

Jim & Jill at the Providence RI Botanical Center

So if you are getting married in November and want to have a lush wedding, follow Jim and Jill lead.  Get married in a greenhouse like the one at the Botanical Center at Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island.

This wedding was special for many reasons.  Most importantly, Jill is an absolutely fantastic person.  I often say I have the best clients, but when I arrived at Jill’s house on her wedding day and she told me she had a gift for my baby, I was completely blown away.  That is a kind of selflessness I would never imagined.

The ceremony was wonderfully genuine.  The Justice of the Peace said some of the most spectacular things I  have ever heard at a wedding.  My favorite was when Jill and her father walked down the aisle and she gathered all the parents and Jim and said, “we don’t give away our children.”  How true and inclusive that felt.

Jill’s wonderful 4 year old son was also welcomed into the ceremony and then later sang with the band.

Look at Jill’s ring!  Everything about this wedding was so unique!  She even had a hot dog stand serving dogs and chips as the night wore on.  I don’t eat hot dogs, but I still thought it was a great idea.

I wish you guys the best times ahead!  Thank you for sharing such a special event with me.

Introducing Greener Photography

Many of you have noticed that I have fallen behind in my blogging.  It’s not that I haven’t been shooting.  I’ve been photographing a lot of babies lately, not just my own, and just shot a wonderful wedding at Roger Williams Park Botanical Center in Providence, RI (photos to come).

And it’s not that I am a new mom. Although that is busier and more wonderful then I ever anticipated (also photos to come).

Now what has really diverted my attention is the Non-Profit Organization Greener Photography I started with photographer, Dawn Tacker. Dawn and I “met” through an on-line forum because we shared a similar interest in the environment.  We were both looking for ways to offer the most eco-friendly products to our clients and run the “cleanest” photo businesses we could.  We were frustrated that there was no single source of information that would just tell us what to do.  So we started that source.

One thing led to another and it has spiraled into a huge and incredibly exciting undertaking!

I hope all you photographers out there will join. It’s free and you get to use our beautiful logo in your advertising material.

We are completely open to any and all feedback.  The site and direction of the organization is very much a work in progress.  Please let me know what you think and any suggestions you may have!

Happy December and remember to enter the contest below!
