Raves!

I just got this email that brought tears to my eyes.  It is just so nice to hear things like this:

“Thea! I hope you are doing very well!
So John and I got married in Chelsea, VT on August of ‘08 and you made your appearance very pregnant! First of all, I just finished making our wedding photo album, and was very overwhelmed at the gift you gave to us. I am not one for the schmaltz, but you did an amazing job at photographing our wedding. I didn’t even want a photographer, and was convinced by my mother and mother in law that I really would regret it if we didn’t find some one. They were to right. And, as our 2nd anniversary approaches next week, I just want to give you a HUGE thank you and shout out for your amazing work. I had a college friend ask if I would recommend you to photograph their wedding ( she didn’t know you had done ours, but saw our pic on your website) and I practically claimed you had hung the moon. Anyway. thank you so so so much!”

Vermont Engagement Photos

Jody and Chris were at a Vermont wedding we photographed last year.  For Christmas, Jody’s mom got her and her best friend engagement session gift certificates.  It’s so fun to photograph people with connections to other clients.

Jody and Chris’s personalities really came through in these.  Can’t wait to do the Save the dates!

Emily & Kristen’s Engagements

This was my first time the the Webster Barn in Hyde Park Vermont.  What a spectacular location!!  Just a few miles from Stowe VT, with incredible mountain views, cows, rolling green hills and everything a Vermont wedding needs.  I can’t wait for July 17!!

Caitlin & Mike; Mountain Top Inn, Chittenden Vermont

I am voting The Mountain Top Inn as the best place to photograph weddings in Vermont.  This was my first time there and I was blown away.  They really have it all - a very nice Inn, a permanent tent, fields, views, lakes and an unbelievable timber frame house appropriately called, the jewel.

Now no one plans on getting married in the rain but Caitlin really shined in the soggy weather.  It’s all about attitude, check out the boots!

It was an absolute joy photographing Caitlin and Mike!

Utopia

I am just back from Utopia, aka Burlington, Vermont. I was visiting Bryan who is building a Sugar Shack for the Rock Point School. They are actually calling it the Taj Ma Sugar Hall, because it is way to fancy to be called a shack.  It’s his community project for the year.  The kids help, it’s a traditional community hand raising.  Very cool!

But back to Utopia…Do you know that Burlington does not have black flies?  That’s right no bugs at this time of year.  Did you also know that there is a campground on the bike path about a mile from downtown?  I don’t know why I’ve ever stayed in a hotel there.

Now, I don’t know if Rock Point would host a wedding.  But it would be the perfect place.  They also house the Rock Point Summer Conferences which has an outdoor chapel, 3 private beaches, very rustic cabins and the whole campus right next to the campground and a stone’s throw from the Hilton and all that.  If you are looking for a Vermont wedding venue, give them a call.  It never hurts to ask.

Here’s a snap shot of the view from Battery Park. Those mountains are all undeveloped!!

And here is Kyra on her first camping trip!  We stayed in one of the cabins - so it’s “Kamping” with running water, flush toliets and electricity.  But she slept in a sleeping bag!

Hope everyone is having a great week!!
